Whew what a day we are having!

Rain, rain and more rain. That is what we have had since last night. We have so much rain that the schools let out an hour early! I am so glad we live on a hill! When I got the call that school was letting out early I called and left a message for our son that I would be there at three. The school was letting the car riders out at three pm but the bus riders will be getting out at their regular time. I was beginning to think I would never get there! The bad thing about living on a ridge is that the road leads down to a valley. No matter which road I could take after leaving our road I would be very close to creeks. A couple of miles from home there was a large tree across the road so I had to turn around and find another route. The roads were slightly flooded but still passable. It was pretty slow going. Then there was a stalled car in the road. We are at home now, safe and sound. I just hope my husband gets here ok!

If you are having weather like we are please stay safe!

Pictures!

Well, here are some pictures at last! I decided to start with the guest room. I haven't put much on the walls yet but it is ready for it's first guest. Our daughter and husband will be coming for Christmas. They will be my very first guests in the new studio. They will get a night to themselves while we keep the grand children. We are really looking forward to their visit!

I don't know if you will be able to see it or not but the pillow shams say Good Night.

This is a small table/bench that I picked up years ago in Chattanooga. Isn't it cute? It looks like it was made for a child. Above it is an old print of the state of Tennessee.

On the left is an old vanity that I am using as a desk. Above it is a sampler that I found at a local Goodwill. The paint color in this room may not show up very well. It is a gray/green. At some times during the day it looks green and other times a sort of gray. The paint was still in good condition in this room so we just washed the walls down and left it. We did repaint the woodwork, though.

The bedspread was my great grandmothers. I wish you all could see it in person. It has motifs woven into it. In the center are large birds. It has gotten thin over the years and the fringe was missing when it was given to me but it is something that I treasure.

The floors in this room are new and I have put a rag rug on the floor next to the bed.

Well, there you have it. A tour of the guest  bedroom in my new studio. I hope you enjoyed your visit. I will show another room next time.

How this all started

A year ago this month My husband and I bought the house in the picture. At the time I wondered what we were going to do with it until my husband suggested I move my weaving things in there. Did I want to do that? You bet! I had all my looms and supplies in one small room. I sure could use more space.

The house needed lots of work. Lots and lots of it. After months of painting, repairing things and insalling new flooring I moved in. There are still a few things that need to be done but we reached a point where I could move the looms in. Now I can get busy weaving! Hurray! I have waited so long for this day.

I have my own blog!

Welcome to the Pine Ridge Handwovens blog. I am new to the wonderful world of blogging so it may take me a while to discover all the ins and outs. In the future I hope to blog about my new weaving studio and what I am weaving. Sit down, relax and follow me on my new adventure!
